Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti believes Paulo Dybala has the ability to ‘make an entire team play better’ and Roma would be better to keep him if they want ‘to build a strong mentality’.

The Argentina international returned to putting his name on the scoresheet by bagging a brace against Parma, proving his importance for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

However, after being on the verge of leaving the Stadio Olimpico last summer to join Al-Qadsiah, only to eventually change his mind, the 31-year-old has persistently been linked with a move away from the Giallorossi, but Spalletti stressed how ‘important’ it is to ‘keep players like him’.

Spalletti praises ‘top-level’ Dybala: ‘Important to keep players like him’

“Dybala, as everyone knows, is a player who can make an entire team play better,” the former Roma coach told La Domenica Sportiva, as quoted by TMW.

“He has the technique, the ability to relate to the whole team, and the quality every time the ball comes to his feet. He is confident in front of goal.

“He just needs a bit more physicality and strength, but he is a top-level player.

“Should Roma keep him? It’s hard for me to say. I know Dybala is a strong player, and for a team that wants to build a strong mentality, it’s important to keep players like him.”

Dybala has four goals from 14 Serie A appearances this season, and he has played the full 90 minutes twice since Ranieri became the manager.

The coach claimed he’s sure the player is ‘happy’ at Roma, and recent rumours suggested he could be on the verge of getting an automatic one-year contract extension due to a clause included in his current deal.
