Spurs full-back Morris suffers cruel ACL blow | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ella Morris has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury whilst on international duty with England.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media update from The Football Association this afternoon.

The 22-year-old was set to represent the Lionesses in the current international window but the player has sustained an injury to her knee in training. The defender has now been assessed by the England medical team and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

Morris will begin the rehabilitaion process back at her club. The defender is expected to be sidelined for most of the 2025/2026 campaign.

The injury is a major blow for Morris. Her performances have been a real positive for Spurs despite their dismal campaign. The youngster was rewarded with her first senior England call-up earlier this month and she had an outside chance of making the squad for this summer’s EUROs, however, she must now instead focus on making a successful recovery from injury.

Given Morris’ withdrawal from the England squad, head coach Sarina Wiegman has opted to call-up Manchester City midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown as a replacement.

England will contest a UEFA Women’s Nations League double-header in the next seven days. They face Portugal at Wembley on Friday before travelling to Barcelona to take on Spain on Tuesday.
