This midweek, whilst Spurs had their first free midweek since August, there was plenty of action for loanees across the EFL. Let’s take a look at how things went for them.

Spurs loanees in action across the EFL during the midweek slate

In the Championship, Yang Min-hyeok came on as a 71st minute substitute for Queens Park Rangers, as they made the trip to the Midlands to face Coventry City. Unfortunately, late heartbreak would ensue, as their hosts scored a winner deep into stoppage time, to take all three points with a 1-0 win.

This defeat leaves QPR in 13th place in the Championship, with 41 points from their 32 games so far. Next up is a home game against Derby County on Friday night, live in front of the Sky Sports cameras, for a 20:00 GMT kick off.

Meanwhile, after being rested for Stoke’s FA Cup fourth round defeat at home to Cardiff City, Ashley Phillips was back in the starting XI as the Potters faced Bristol City away from home. Unfortunately, he could not prevent his side from being condemned to a 2-0 defeat.

This defeat leaves Stoke in 19th place in the Championship, with 32 points from their 31 games so far. Next up is a home game against Swansea City on Saturday, for a 15:00 GMT kick off.

Finally in the second tier, Will Lankshear came on in the 56th minute for West Bromwich Albion, as they lost 2-0 at home to fellow play off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers, in what certainly met the “six pointer” threshold. Disappointing night all round.

This defeat leaves West Brom in 6th place in the Championship, having been leapfrogged by their visitors – with 47 points from their 32 games so far. Next up is an away game against Millwall and former Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga on Saturday, for a 15:00 GMT kick off.

Down in League One, there was no FA Cup hangover for Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, and Leyton Orient, as they swept aside Mansfield Town with a 3-0 win at home. In the usual number ten role, Donley played 76 minutes, though did not add to his goals and assists this season. Meanwhile, Keeley made four saves on the way to his 13th clean sheet in 19 league games.

This win leaves Orient in 7th place in League One, with 47 points from their 29 games so far. Next up is a home game against Lincoln City on Saturday – another 15:00 GMT kick off there.
