The powers that be at Real Madrid have identified two areas of the club’s squad as being in need of reinforcement with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards centre-back and right-back as the positions in question.

The subject of potential reinforcements has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after Real Madrid were dealt a heavy blow on the personnel front, key defender Dani Carvajal having been ruled out long-term with a serious knee injury.

Not only has as much reduced the options at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti on the right side of his backline, but at centre-half, too, with Carvajal having been considered an important emergency backup option in an already depleted

In turn, it should perhaps not come as much of a surprise to hear that the transfer team at the Santiago Bernabéu have begun drawing up plans to dip into the market this January.

As per a report from the aforementioned Marca, the Spanish champions are eyeing up fresh blood at both right-back and centre-back this winter.

In the case of the latter, the preference is to bring in a left-footed option.

Some names to keep an eye on, meanwhile, include Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Palmeiras talent Vitor Reis.
