FLW have picked out four Blades players that could depart in the next transfer window

Sheffield United underwent a big turnover of their squad in the summer, but may still want to find exits for some of their fringe and youth players in the January transfer window.

Chris Wilder has got a sizeable pool of players to pick from this season, but with the Blades' aim of an immediate promotion back to the Premier League, he rarely chooses to give youth a chance in the Championship.

It remains to be seen what kind of progress his side will have made come the winter window, but with that in mind, Football League World have picked out four players that Sheffield United could allow to leave the club in January.

Ismaila Coulibaly

Ismaila Coulibaly's Blades career has failed to ever really take off since his arrival four years ago, and it came as a surprise to see him stay at Bramall Lane beyond the summer after he spent the second half of last season at Swedish side AIK.

Coulibaly moved to United from Norwegian club Sarpsborg in September 2020 as a 19-year-old, and was immediately sent out to Belgian side Beerschot on a three-year loan deal, then went on to make 44 appearances for De Kielse Ratten, before his spell was cut short after two years due to their relegation.

He made his Blades debut in the FA Cup in January 2023, but has struggled to break into the senior side ever since, and moved on loan to AIK last season in search of more game-time, yet never really made an impression in the Allsvenskan.

The Mali international was heavily linked with a move away in the summer but remained a part of Wilder's squad, and he has found minutes hard to come by yet again, so will likely depart in January either on loan or possibly on a permanent deal.

Louie Marsh

Young striker Louie Marsh is a boyhood Blade after being born and raised in the city and coming through the club's youth ranks, and has already spent time out on loan, so January feels like the right time for him to find more game-time in the lower leagues again.

Marsh has been a prolific scorer at academy level, and bagged 23 goals in the 2022/23 Professional Development League before going on to make his senior and professional debut for United as a substitute in the EFL Cup in August last year.

He joined Doncaster Rovers on loan just a day later, and made eight appearances and scored once for the League Two side before a serious injury cut his time in South Yorkshire short as he returned to the Blades in the January window.

The 20-year-old netted his first goal for United earlier this season in the EFL Cup, but has found game-time limited at senior level, so he needs to make another loan move when possible to continue his development.

Ryan One

Scottish striker Ryan One is still only 18-years-old, but has already been a first-team regular at a professional level and has a bright future ahead of him if he continues on the same path.

One began his career with Hamilton Academical, and made his first-team debut for the club at just 16 in the Scottish Championship, then went on to become a regular for the senior side in 2022/23 and soon attracted transfer interest from Brighton & Hove Albion, but the clubs never came to an agreement over a deal.

He instead joined the Blades in September 2023, and made his debut for the club in the Premier League a month later against Arsenal, but similarly to his fellow young talents, has struggled to make an impact on the senior side since, and would be a smart pick-up for a lower-league side on loan in January.

Owen Hampson

Midfielder Owen Hampson has started to make waves at first-team level recently, after he joined the Blades from Manchester United as a scholar in January 2021.

Hampson has been a standout at under-21 level since his arrival, and figured in a senior matchday squad for the first time last season against his old club in the Premier League, proving just how highly-rated he is by Chris Wilder and co.

The Welsh youth international was promoted to the first-team in pre-season, and caught the eye with some impressive performances, in turn earning the chance to make his first professional appearances in the EFL Cup in August.

Soon to be 20-years-old, Hampson must seek a loan move in January to further his development and try to break into the Blades squad for good in the future.
