Romeo Lavia was a key figure in Chelsea’s win over Liverpool on Sunday, and many people have already written about what an impact he made. Speaking to the club’s official website, the Belgian was delighted with a result that could well earn us a Champions League spot.
“It was a great result. We have been very focused on what we have to do, so it was good to see that the plan we had worked out well. And to get the win is even better,” the midfielder said.

On a personal level, there’s no denying it’s been an immensely frustrating and disappointing season for Lavia. That fact that he’s been so good when available only sharpens the pain of his absence:
Still, in his own words, he’s still very positive about things:
“My goal for the whole season was to be with the team and help them as much as I can. I’m pleased I’ve been able to do it [against Liverpool]. I feel good. I take it game by game and I’m enjoying every moment, so it’s positive at the moment.”
It’s great to hear that his injury issues haven’t brought him down. If he can play out the rest of this campaign and make it through the Club World Cup without an issue, we can consider that really good progress and hope that next season we finally get to see him consistently.
The midfielder also addressed the next item on the agenda – getting into the Conference League final.
“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, we will focus game by game, and we have another big one on Thursday [against Djurgarden],” he said.
“We have created momentum, it’s a positive atmosphere to be in, and that will help us in the future. Every game is important. ‘Final’ is a big word, but I think we just have to focus on each game, stick to our plans, and everything will hopefully go well.”
