Gunning for a treble is not a privilege all clubs in the world can fight for, and Barcelona have proven to be one of the best in the business simply by being alive on all fronts this season.

Having made it into the semifinal of the UCL, they will face Inter Milan over two legs in a few week’s time. Before that, they have a chance to get closer to the league title and clinch the Copa del Rey.

Their next game is against Celta Vigo and will be held at Montjuic on Saturday afternoon. When they met earlier this season, Barcelona could only manage a draw and the team will be keen to settle the scores with the home advantage.

Barça Universal brings you three talking points ahead of Barcelona vs Celta Vigo.

Need to bounce back

Hansi Flick and Barcelona players were highly critical of the team’s performance at Signal Iduna Park and the result that they secured on the night.

Having made a mess of a situation that was completely in control was not quite how the Blaugrana hoped to progress to the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League, and tomorrow’s game must first be about correcting the errors.

The manager defended his team for the poor result but made it clear that they cannot afford to slip up once more. Given the situation in La Liga, there is simply no room for error.

Flick reportedly arranged a special interaction to address the shortcomings against Dortmund and where his men must improve going ahead. He will now hope his words will have an influence on their performance.

The objective on Saturday thus can not be clearer – to bounce back from the defeat and return to winning ways which has been their mojo so far throughout 2025.

The Copa del Rey formula

Barcelona have two more games before they play the final of the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid next week.

A trophy awaits on the other side of that gruelling clash and the Blaugrana will have to be at their best to take home the silverware.

Winning on that night, however, is crucial as it makes the treble dream all the more real while also serving as a massive boost ahead of the UCL semifinal against Inter Milan.

Hansi Flick has thus derived a formula heading into the two critical league games that will maximise the chances of winning the cup final – and its implementation starts tomorrow.

The German tactician’s idea is to deploy his strongest lineup against Celta Vigo – the same XI that will start against Real Madrid in Seville.

Fielding the Gala XI will give them time to nurture the synchrony they enjoy and also give Barcelona the best chance of winning the more difficult of the two games that lie ahead.

Further, it will give Flick a chance to rest some key stars against Mallorca which is just days before the cup final. Tomorrow, Barcelona will thus field a very strong combination with Pedri and Inigo Martinez likely to return to the XI.

A possible decisive weekend

At this point in the season, a single slip-up could well decide the league title race. Barcelona are seated comfortably on the standings with four points over Real Madrid, but one more defeat for Los Blancos could end it all.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are currently on a drastically poor streak and have three defeats in their last four games including a 5-1 loss to Arsenal on aggregate.

They take on Athletic Club this weekend and the Basque side are on a contrasting run of form. Ernesto Valverde’s side, in fact, have not lost in their last eight games and beat Rangers in the Europa League quarterfinal midweek.

As such, there is a real chance Los Blancos drop points against Athletic Club. Three points for Barcelona tomorrow, needless to say, will only amp up the pressure.

Only six games will remain in La Liga after this matchday, and Barcelona being seven points clear of Real Madrid will virtually seal the league in their favour at this point. Taking every point at this stage, thus, is crucial.
