FC Barcelona managed to completely dismantle UD Barbastro away from home in the Copa del Rey. As the first game of the new year for the Catalan giants, it was a fixture in which the team had hoped to do well. Ultimately, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona was the team that came out on top and continues onwards in the knockout competition.

A dominant 4-0 victory saw goals from the likes of Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, and a brace from Robert Lewandowski seal the deal. With this victory, Barcelona get 2025 off to a great start ahead of their Spanish Super Cup clash against Athletic Club.

Here are the player ratings for Barcelona.

Player Ratings:

Wojciech Szczesny: 7.5

A solid outing from the Polish goalkeeper started off with a strong performance in the first half where he seemed unamused by the pressure from UD Barbastro and dealt with everything calmly.

Jules Kounde: 7.0

The Frenchman was relentless on the right flank for Barcelona, and did well to go forward in the absence of both Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. Solid display from the right-back.

Ronald Araujo: 8.5

A simply brilliant return for the Uruguayan defender, who was simply unparalleled in the air and always seemed unbeatable even when Barbastro advanced. Moreover, Araujo even managed to get an assist to his name while also leading the team as the captain.

Inigo Martinez: 7.0

Was a solid piece for Barcelona alongside Araujo in defense, and did well to keep Barbastro at bay while also driving the ball upwards and releasing some good passes. Solid display from the Spaniard.

Gerard Martin: 7.5

It seems that Gerard Martin is finally finding his groove in Hansi Flick’s team with yet another consistent and reliable display. His last few appearances have been showcasing improvement, and that continues to be the case.

Eric Garcia: 8.0

Quite alert and accurate with his first-time passes, Eric Garcia was able to create some great openings for his Barcelona teammates in this game. Moreover, he also managed to grab the opening goal after reacting to a headed pass from Ronald Araujo.

Frenkie de Jong: 7.5

The Dutchman was solid when it came to controlling the tempo of the game, and was also a positive influence for Barcelona when it came to advancing the ball. Decent display from the midfielder.

Fermin Lopez: 7.0

Energetic and dynamic, Fermin Lopez did well to play out wide on the left flank. His crosses, tendency to even take a shot or two, were just some aspects of his game that made him a threat for UD Barbastro.

Pedri: 7.0

Was always there to support his teammates whenever they needed him in certain spaces, and the Spaniard was there to create chances and also connect the entire team together. Only played the first half, however.

Pablo Torre: 10

Continues to prove in the few minutes that he gets that he is certainly not a player to be slept on. In terms of his set piece deliveries and crosses, he made sure each and every single one of them looked dangerous and gave his teammates a chance to hurt the opponents as he managed to pick up two assists. Later on, he even managed to get himself on the score sheet. Great display from the Spaniard.

Robert Lewandowski: 9.0

Managed to convert a cross from Pablo Torre to get his first goal of the new year and give Barcelona some stability in the game. Early on in the second half, however, the Polish ace doubled his tally with a goal that showcased both his strength and finishing.

Gavi: 7.5

Brought a lot of intensity and tenacity into the game once he came on, Gavi was a good substitution that was made at the right time as well.

Pau Cubarsi: 6.5

Composed and collected alongside Ronald Araujo despite playing as the left-sided centre-back, Pau Cubarsi showcased his versatility and maturity in this game.

Sergi Dominguez: 6.0

Had a decent outing, not much to critique or praise.

Ansu Fati: 5.5

Still lacks that killer instinct that once made him one of the world’s finest young talents, and it is truly sad to see his lack of intensity now.

Toni Fernandez: N/A
