As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a loan move for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
West Ham United are also interested in the Dutchman and remain in direct contact over a potential loan with an obligation to buy, whilst Spurs have so far only enquired over deal conditions.
A robust, powerful, yet relatively quick forward, Brobbey is effective at fending off defenders, holding up play, and has sharp movement that makes him excellent in the box.
Contributing just under one goal a game for Ajax’s youth side, the 22-year-old made his senior debut in October 2020 under Erik ten Hag, going onto score three goals a piece in both the Eredivisie and Europa League across 18 appearances – three of which were starts.
The following summer Brobbey joined RB Leipzig at the end of his contract, but only played 252 minutes before being loaned back to his boyhood side in January, who then re-signed their academy product for €16million.
The five-time capped Netherlands international scored 13 league goals in his first full season back at his boyhood club, then accumulating 18 as well as eight assists in 30 matches last season; despite playing under three different managers as the Dutch giants recorded their worst league finish since 2000.
With Francesco Farioli as head coach this campaign however, Brobbey has scored once in nine starts so far, and will therefore be looking to refind his form at either Tottenham or West Ham.
Both sides’ manager’s are in need of that output too, as Ange Postecoglou has to overturn his team’s run of one league win in 10 without Dominic Solanke due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, new Hammers coach Graham Potter doesn’t have any of Michail Antonio, Niclas Füllkrug, or Jarrod Bowen currently available.
