In a recent report, Bild mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to land Bayern Munich ace Leroy Sane. However, it is understood that Spurs are facing competition in the form of Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to land the German attacker.
Sane managed to catch the eye at times but struggled to be consistent for Bayern Munich last season. The 29-year-old registered 13 goals and grabbed six assists in 45 matches for the Bavarian club in the previous campaign across all competitions.
The Germany international proved his worth at times in the final third and did well to average 3.68 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He kept 43.3% of his attempts on target. Sane was also tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 82.5% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Sane’s current deal at Bayern is set to expire at the end of next season. Hence, Spurs could land him on a free transfer this summer.

Sane has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can engineer some decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
However, the Germany international has to find a way to be more consistent with his productivity in the final third. Sane already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. He is primarily a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if required.
We can expect the German talent to bring more firepower to Ange Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
