Tottenham have 'opened preliminary talks' over a new deal for midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, with the club keen to extend his current terms.
The Uruguayan midfielder has been in an out of the side in the last two seasons thanks to injuries and suspension but has become a key figure in north London during his time on the pitch.
Bentancur's current deal expires at the end of next season, but the club are now keen to extend that deal further to keep the 27-year-old at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Daily Mail add that "talks are at a very early stage with no agreement close, with future meetings planned in the coming weeks."
Should Tottenham be giving him a new contract? Let us know in the comments.
