We all know where Tottenham Hotspur's priorities lie, but Ange Postecoglou won't want to enter a hugely significant second leg with AZ Alkmaar off the back of another home defeat.

Spurs supporters have been subject to a miserable 2024/25 campaign, but the Europa League has supplied Ange with a chance to prolong his future in north London. AZ represented a favourable round of 16 draw, but his team produced a lifeless display in Alkmaar which means they have a deficit to make up on home soil.

Their campaign has been undermined by injuries, but Spurs have gotten healthier. Excuses are starting to wear thin on supporters, and very few would be surprised if they lost for a 15th time in the Premier League on Sunday.

Postecoglou has next week's second leg to consider, but wholesale rotation is unlikely. Here's how Tottenham could line up for Bournemouth's visit.

There are doubts over Dominic Solanke's status after he suffered a back injury on Thursday / ANP/GettyImages

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - There were reports of Tottenham's number one getting into it with fans after Thursday's defeat, but the travelling support would've endured a heavier defeat if it wasn't for the Italian shot-stopper.

RB: Pedro Porro - After appearing off the bench in the week, Porro could come back into the manager's XI on Sunday. The Spaniard should bolster Tottenham's ability to combine past Bournemouth's press.

CB: Archie Gray - Gray had a tough night in Alkmaar, but Cristian Romero is unlikely to be back into the fold against Bournemouth. The Argentine could be preserved for next Thursday.

CB: Kevin Danso - Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin are out, and although Micky van de Ven was back on the bench in the week, Danso should continue to partner Gray.

LB: Djed Spence - Spence is currently Tottenham's best player and although Postecoglou needs him desperately on Thursday, the full-back's inclusion is necessary given his ability to resist pressure is a rare trait within this Spurs squad.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - The Uruguayan can't play Spurs' second leg against AZ through suspension, making his selection here a no-brainer.

CM: Pape Sarr - It's been an indifferent 2025 for the Senegalese international, but his impressive running power means he should be able to match Bournemouth's dogged engine room.

CM: James Maddison - Tottenham struggled without Dejan Kulusevski in the week, and they desperately need chief creator Maddison to step up over the next few games. He's been productive this season, but can the Englishman produce when it matters most?

RW: Wilson Odobert - Odobert struggled off the bench in Alkmaar, but Brennan Johnson was woeful and the Welshman could drop to the bench on Sunday.

ST: Mathys Tel - It's been a struggle for Tel at the start of his Spurs career, but he hasn't had the optimal conditions to thrive. The Frenchman has been asked to perform a Dominic Solanke-like role and operate as a target man up top, but that's not his game. Solanke is a doubt for Sunday after taking a blow to the back on his return.

LW: Son Heung-min - With Postecoglou unlikely to turn to Mikey Moore and Timo Werner absent on Thursday, captain Son will likely be wheeled out again after another disappointing performance in midweek.
