Udinese row resolved as Lucca makes musical confession

Lorenzo Lucca sought inspiration from music to make his public apology to Udinese teammates after he angered them and the coach by insisting on taking a penalty.

The incident occurred during last night’s 1-0 win away to Lecce, when he took hold of the ball and simply refused to listen to reason during a lengthy argument with teammates including Florian Thauvin and Alexis Sanchez.

It so irritated them that when he did convert it successfully, Lucca was left isolated to celebrate the goal by himself, then was hauled off the field by coach Kosta Runjaic before half-time to send home the message this was intolerable behaviour.

A day later, Lucca seems to have learned his lesson, because he sent out an Instagram message with two images, one of him converting the penalty, the other of the team celebrating victory at the final whistle.

“I wanted to be a tough guy, but alone I am nobody.”

These are song lyrics from Lucio Corsi, who finished runner-up at the Sanremo music festival and will represent Italy at Eurovision in 2025 with his song, ‘Volevo Essere un Duro.’

It would seem that, unlike the situation with Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman and coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Udinese seem to have solved it by the forward admitting he was wrong.
