Manchester United have been sent a stark warning over the rumoured return of Jadon Sancho.

When the winger joined Chelsea on loan at the beginning of the season, and reports swiftly confirmed there’d been a £25 million obligation to buy cause included in the terms, fans thought they’d finally washed their hands of the lacklustre attacker.

That was until the last fortnight, however, when speculation suggested the Blues had no desire to keep Sancho beyond his season-long spell – even if it meant paying their rivals a fee.

David Ornstein has since revealed that Chelsea would need to fork out £5m to bypass the obligation, which would see Sancho return to Old Trafford in time for the 2025/2026 campaign.

Of course, neither the club, Ruben Amorim, nor the supporters want that to be the case. The 25-year-old pushed for a move after his notorious fallout with Erik ten Hag last term, culminating with his returning to former club Borussia Dortmund on a half-season spell, while also opting for another transfer away in the early stages of 2024/2025, with Ten Hag more than happy to oblige.

Sancho has endured the same substandard form in blue as he has in red since his 2021 switch. Despite assisting in his first three appearances and then scoring in back-to-back wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, he now hasn’t registered a goal contribution in the Premier League since January 4 against Crystal Palace.

For ex-Chelsea man Tony Cascarino, believes the on-loan player has only gone downhill since then.

“Sancho, from the player I watched at Crystal Palace, who looked really good, has lost his way as the season has gone on,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

Not that they need any more encouragement to do so, but INEOS chiefs must ensure Sancho is taken off the books permanently this summer.
