Bolton Wanderers' fan pundit has disclosed that a late January move for Notts County's Alassana Jatta would provide a dream end to the January 2025 window.

The Trotters are currently without a head coach after Ian Evatt was sacked following a disappointing defeat at home to Charlton Athletic.

However, the players and interim boss, Julian Darby regathered themselves and ended Huddersfield Town's unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

Outside of this, January has been a relatively busy month with the Wanderers picking up Joel Randall from Peterborough United and Alex Murphy from Newcastle. Meanwhile, striker Dion Charles has departed the club for the Terriers, with the Lancashire club earning £750,000 from his sale.

This could be reinvested in the coming days and supporters will be hopeful of a new addition up front.

Alassana Jatta named as a potential signing for Bolton

We asked our Bolton Wanderers fan pundit, Liam O'Meara, what his ideal conclusion to the January transfer window would involve, and he claimed he would like to see a pair of deals completed before the February 3rd deadline.

Speaking to Football League World, Liam said: "I think the priority has to be two things.

"Number one has to be a striker who can play as a sole striker. The problem we have at the moment is that we are playing players slightly out of their position.

"So, Jatta at Notts County seems a very good fit. He has the profile of the type of player we really need."

Speaking about his second decision, the Trotters fan added: "For this to happen, Victor Adeboyejo does have to leave the club, which is a shame, but it hasn't really worked out.

"So, I think that would be my priority at the top end of the pitch."

Bolton will have to battle for Notts County's Jatta

If the Bolton hierarchy are to grant Liam's wishes, they will have to battle it out with Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth for Jatta's signature.

The Gambian international has been courted by all three clubs, according to The Guardian, with the Pilgrims seeing a £750,000 offer rejected for his services.

Believed to be holding out for £1 million, it would represent a significant outlay for Wanderers, but if they have ambitions of securing a top-six finish, they may need to go all in to get their man.

Jatta joined County from Viborg FF last January and has netted 20 goals in 34 games, becoming one of the top strikers in League Two.
