Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has conceded four goals in his last two appearances for Italy, all of which have come from set-pieces.
All of the last six goals scored against Italy have come from set-pieces in fact, four of which have been conceded while Vicario was in net, the other two under the stewardship of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Set pieces have been a cause for concern for Vicario at club level for most of the calendar year. That area of his game has come to cost him in his last two international caps as well.
The former Empoli ‘keeper got nowhere near a corner in the 4-1 victory over Israel last month after being boxed out by an opposition defender.
Against France on Sunday night, he conceded from a corner again after just two minutes of action in San Siro, as Lucas Digne’s cross was met with relative ease by Adrien Rabiot.
The 28-year-old then technically scored an own goal after a sweetly-struck free-kick by Digne, which hit him on rebound off the crossbar. Digne and Rabiot then combined from a deep free-kick for France’s third on the night on Sunday.
