While Vitor Roque’s time at Barcelona did not meet sporting expectations, his transfer to Palmeiras will at least ensure financial stability for the club.
Of the €30 million fixed fee agreed for his signing – on a contract running until 2031 – Barcelona still had €23.5 million left to amortize.
However, the €25 million fee being paid by Palmeiras will fully cover that amount and also help generate Fair Play margin in LaLiga, thanks to the termination of his contract.
In addition, Barcelona will not have to pay any of the €31 million in potential add-ons to Athletico Paranaense.
This will facilitate the renewals of Inigo Martinez and Lamine Yamal, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Martinez’s current contract expires at the end of the season but has a clause for an automatic one-year extension if he reaches a certain number of appearances.

While he is close to activating that, Barça decided to offer him an altogether new deal, having been impressed by his performances this season. An agreement has been in place for some time now and the lack of Fair Play had stopped the announcement, but that will change now.
As for Lamine, his current contract runs until 2026, but Barça already had plans to extend his deal until 2030 once he turns 18 years old in July this year.
Despite there being a pact, the Blaugrana are negotiating fresh terms with the Golden Boy winner, so that his new contract reflects his meteoric rise in the team.
Roque’s exit gives Barcelona the Fair Play space to secure Yamal’s future with a long-term contract once he turns 18 years old.
In addition, Robert Lewandowski’s deal could also be extended thanks to the salary space freed up by the Roque operation.
