Joao Felix’s loan move to AC Milan hangs in the balance. At least in theory. Although it doesn’t feel like it, given there have been so many leaks we know it’s going down.
The transfer window closed hours ago, and so far there’s been no confirmation from Chelsea or the Italian giants that the deal is done. Nor have any of the big transfer insiders Tweeted about is as having been completed.
But all the signs are there – everyone seemed confident earlier this evening that there was time, Felix was pictured in Milan in person, presumably to take a medical. It’s just a matter of a delay in confirmation.
In fact the move is so far along that some pretty specific details of the move are being leaked before it’s even got a green light. Matteo Moretto of Relevo knows what number he’s going to wear. That’s before we even know the loan fee or conditions with any certainty beyond what Fabrizio Romano has told us.
Portuguese sports paper back up the suggestion that the attacker will wear the number 79 in Milan, the same number he wore as a kid breaking into the Benfica team.

There’s something about the Felix to Milan move that just feels like it might work. Maybe it’s aesthetic. He just makes sense in red and black. He has the same languid playmaker style we’ve seen from past Milan players like Ronaldinho, Kaka and his countryman Rui Costa.
Will the slower pace of that league allow him to shine a little more? We hope so. He’s got some magic to him that we’re just never going to see at Chelsea. We can enjoy the highlights moments without having to suffer the poor defending now. We hope he goes and scores screamers and then enjoys a big move there in the summer.
