Kevin De Bruyne believes City are raising their level of performance following the impressive 4-1 Premier League victory over West Ham United.
After just two wins in eight matches across December, Pep Guardiola's side now have successive victories for the first time since October after overcoming the Hammers.
Savinho's cross deflected off Vladimir Coufal to hand us an early lead, before Erling Haaland struck twice either side of half-time to propel us into a commanding position.
De Bruyne, in his 400th appearance for the Club, assisted the fourth for Phil Foden, before Niclas Fullkrug sweeped in a consolation for the visitors.
The Belgian has recognised an improvement in the team's display and has reiterated the team's desire to continue working hard.
"It’s a little step. There were moments we played good and some moments a little bit less. But it was much better than against Leicester. In the end we lost a bit of energy but there was some improvement so it’s alright.
"The team gave maximum effort. The level has to be higher but we understand that. We understand a little bit more what about we have done in the last ten years. How hard it is to do. In this moment we’re a little below that. So we understand what it is. We’re working really hard.
"You comprehend a little bit how hard it actually was. People said City are winning all the time it must be easy, it’s not. It’s hard work. We’re working hard to get back to that level. That’s all we can do.
It’s been a hard season for us. It’s a bit of an improvement but we know it has to be better. We take the points and we can work further on."
The captain played the entire 90 minutes at the Etihad Stadium, after also lasting the entire game at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
The midfielder believes the break in midweek has helped the team and has allowed himself to continue improving his personal displays.
"The team is coming back fitness wise and the schedule helped by having a few more days to prepare. That should help.
"I’m trying to get back to my level. I feel every week I’m getting better. Fitness wise I’m getting better. I can run around for 90 minutes. I
"It’s been an uncomfortable few months with the injury. But I'm getting better and better and performing better so that’s it."
