Arsenal have sealed a placed in the Champions League quarter-finals after thrashing PSV Eindhoven 9-3 on aggregate.
A 7-1 thrashing in the first leg left Mikel Arteta’s side in complete control of their last-16 tie and they finished the job in the second leg on Wednesday night thanks to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners will now take on Real Madrid in the last-eight, in what will be a major test of their European credentials.
Real have not been at their best this season, but they swept aside Manchester City 6-3 on aggregate to reach the last-16 and overcame rivals Atletico Madrid thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout.
If Arsenal were to knock out the holders, they will play either PSG or Aston Villa in the semi-finals.
PSG beat Liverpool on penalties on Tuesday night and will be the strong favourite to reach the last-four and set up a potential clash with the Gunners.
Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Barcelona are among those on the other side of the draw, with the Catalan giants arguably currently the strongest of those sides.
That could leave Arsenal taking on the Spanish giants in a repeat of the 2006 Champions League final
Semi-finals: PSG
