An insight into the most likely fixture pencilled in for Wojciech Szczęsny’s debut with La Liga giants Barcelona has this weekend been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and suggests that the Barcelona faithful will need to be patient in their hopes of seeing Szczęsny take to the pitch in the club’s colours.
The Polish icon of course put pen to paper on terms in Catalunya’s capital early last month.
Despite initial suggestions that Szczęsny was being brought in to act as the replacement for the sidelined Marc-André ter Stegen, however, the former Juventus man, to date, is yet to be afforded his Blaugrana bow.
Instead, Iñaki Peña has established himself as first-choice under the watch of Hansi Flick.
The no.1 debate has not yet been brought to a complete close, but, as of now, Flick is more than happy with the performances being produced by Peña.
And, owing to as much, it looks likely that Szczęsny will need to wait until 2025 to take to the pitch in Barca colours for the first time.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Iñaki Peña will continue to be the starting goalkeeper and Szczesny’s moment will come in January with Barça’s debut in the Copa del Rey.’
