Wilfried Zaha’s (32) short and underwhelming loan spell at Olympique Lyonnais is set to come to an end, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The former Crystal Palace and Manchester United winger joined Lyon on a season-long loan deal from Galatasaray in the summer. However, he did not arriv match ready and then struggled to establish himself at the French club with manager Pierre Sage going public in demanding more from the winger.
After just six appearances for OL and an accumulative 112 minutes of football, he is now set to leave. His season-long loan is set to be cut short. He has been authorised by the Ligue 1 side to travel to complete an 18-month loan move to MLS side Charlotte. OL, looking to raise funds this January in order to avoid a punitive relegation to Ligue 2, will receive some funds from Galatasaray having seen his stint at the Groupama Stadium cut short.
Zaha will remain with Charlotte until the end of the Ivory Coast winger’s contract at Galatasaray, which expires in 2026.
