Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils had a relatively comfortable game at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.
However, they could have been under immense pressure towards the end if Facundo Buonanotte had scored in the 75th minute.
At 2-0 up, Victor Lindelof was easily shrugged off by Jamie Vardy, who put the ball on a plate for Bounanotte.
The Brighton & Hove Albion loanee was destined to score, but Matthijs de Ligt saved Lindelof’s blushes with a sensational block.
Lindelof has been a squad player for the Red Devils for some time, and his inability to cope with Vardy was a lowlight in yesterday’s triumph.
The Sweden ace failed to win any ground duels against Leicester (0/3). He did not make a single tackle and could not complete a long ball.
Lindelof, who had 37 touches against the Foxes, received a low rating of 5/10 from the Manchester Evening News after an average performance.
The 30-year-old has become a weak link in United’s defence, and it is no surprise that the club have no plans to extend his contract.
Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are injured and on the sidelines at the moment. Hopefully, the central defensive duo will be available to return after the international break.
Young sensation Ayden Heaven suffered an injury scare against the Foxes, but there could be positive news. He was walking out of the stadium with a foot brace.
United have jumped to 13th in the table following yesterday’s victory. The Red Devils face a tricky challenge at Nottingham Forest following the international break.
