Who doesn’t love an upset? Bodø Glimt fans surely do.
The Norwegian side shocked Portuguese giants Porto 3-2 in their Europa League opener on Wednesday.
And they played a man down for 40 minutes with only 37% possession of the ball.
Samu Omorodion scored his first goal in the competition and the first UEL goal of the season with a thumping header before the hosts ran the show.
Jens Petter Hauge’s ball over the top found Kasper Høgh and the number nine equalised calmly. The assister then turned scorer to make things 2-1 before the break.
Isak Dybvik Määttä was sent off with a second yellow, but going down to 10 men was apparently nothing to worry about for Bodø Glimt.
Hauge scored a thumping strike into the far right of the net beyond goalkeeper Diogo Costa to stun the Portuguese club yet again.
Despite a late goal from Deniz Gül, the hosts held on to record another famous night in Europe, having stunned Jose Mourinho’s Roma back in 2021.
Prior to kick-off, Opta predicted Porto had the highest odds of winning the competition!
