Antony’s loan move is having the exact effect Manchester United would’ve hoped for.
The winger has enjoyed a sublime start to his spell with Real Betis as he looked to put the stagnant, uninspired version of himself behind him and start afresh.
He’s done exactly that, too. Since swapping rainy Manchester for sunny Seville, Antony has notched an impressive four goals and four assists in 10 appearances across the La Liga and Europa Conference League.
Betis now boast a four-game winning streak in the league, during which they overturned reigning champions Real Madrid in an emphatic 2-1 victory. Antony, meanwhile, has played the full 90 minutes in each of the matches.
When he added a goal and an assist to his tally during Betis’ last-16 triumph over Vitoria Guimaraes last night, TNT Sports hailed the 25-year-old as ‘a player reborn’.

Such revitalised form begs the question as to where Antony will be spending the 2025/2026 campaign. There is no buy option included in his loan agreement, but Betis’ CEO, Ramon Alarcon, recently revealed the player’s intentions to stay in Spain next season.
“Antony was surprised by the facilities we gave him to settle in the city as soon as he arrived,” Alarcon told El Pelotazo.
“The player is very happy, and the other day, he told me that he wanted to stay another year.”
Additionally, Alarcon admitted that he was expecting to retain the forward in the squad over the summer, saying: “I think so (we could keep Antony long-term). The other day, the CEO of United called me. We sent them all the moves and details of the player throughout the week so that they could see that we were looking after their asset.
“There is very good chemistry with Manchester [United] and with the player. It is a possibility that he will continue next season. Why not?”
