Watford defender Samir is closing in on securing a move to Tigres UANL, according to a report from Mediotiempo.
It is understood that the Mexican outfit have reached an agreement with the Hornets over a deal for the Brazilian defender.
Tigres have a place to fill in their squad for a foreign player as Yeferson Soteldo is set to join Santos.
Signed by Watford earlier this year, Samir went on to feature regularly for the club in the Premier League.
Whilst he was unable to prevent his side from suffering relegation to the Championship, the 27-year-old did manage to make 19 appearances in the top-flight.
Hornets head coach Rob Edwards recently revealed in an interview with the Watford Observer that there was a possibility that Samir would be allowed to move on to pastures new.
The defender was a notable absentee from the club’s match-day squads for their recent clashes with Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion.
Edwards opted to utilise Christian Kabasele, Craig Cathcart and Francisco Sierralta as part of a back-three in both of these aforementioned fixtures.
Watford will be looking to secure a positive result in the Championship on Friday when they head to Turf Moor to face Burnley.

The Verdict
When you consider that a departure for Samir has been on the cards this summer, it is hardly a surprise that he is now seemingly set to move on to pastures new.
Providing that the likes of Kabasele, Cathcart, Sierralta and William Troost-Ekong are able to deliver the goods in a defensive sense on a consistent basis in the Championship this season, Watford may not necessarily miss Samir if he does indeed secure a move to Tigres.
As for the defender, he will be hoping to establish as a key player for Tigres in the coming months.
Miguel Herrera’s side are currently third in the Liga MX standings and are set to take on Santos Laguna on Monday.
