There is always a need at FC Barcelona to freshen things up and shake up the squad when needed. After all, no two seasons are ever the same and the club needs to continue improving. As their rivals grow stronger, Barcelona will need to keep up.

Winning the domestic treble was a massive achievement for Hansi Flick’s team this season, especially considering how everyone had originally decided to write them off at the start of the campaign. Now, however, it is clear to see that this Barcelona team means business.

However, if they want to continue being a major threat to other teams moving forward, certain new signings might be a necessity more than a luxury. One such signing could be that of a left-winger, as Hansi Flick reportedly wants a more natural option in that position.

Barcelona reportedly want another winger

While Raphinha offers a strong presence and impact, one that will undeniably get him a new contract extension as well, he is still not a natural dribbler out wide. Instead, he prefers to cut in and dominate the central channels more if possible.

As a result of that, and to directly ease the load on Lamine Yamal as he tends to be the sole focus of the defenders in almost every game, Flick wants a winger who can create chaos himself on the left wing as well. According to SPORT, moreover, Barcelona already have a priority target for such a profile this summer.

That player would be none other than 28-year-old Liverpool star Luis Diaz. Hailing from Columbia, the South American forward is someone that the club seems to value and Hansi Flick has reportedly given his own approval to sign him as well.

With 17 goals and 8 assists this season for Liverpool, Luis Diaz certainly is a threat for opponents to deal with. For Barcelona, securing his signing could, at least on paper, help them have a more natural option over at the left wing while being able to accommodate Raphinha in a slightly different position.

Other options might still be there

As for the transfer fee, there is an estimated value of around €85 million that is being reported. While Liverpool are certainly not easy to negotiate with, Barcelona are reportedly confident with their market-based offer and are in no immediate rush either to sign the Premier League forward.

At the same time, however, other avenues may still be open for Barcelona. Nico Williams, for instance, remains a possible target that the Catalan giants could still potentially end up pursuing if all the conditions that the club is looking for are met and sorted out.
