NJ/NY Gotham FC is still in the offseason, but the team can begin the preseason as early as January 15 and as late as February 5. Truthfully, with the unexpected yet extensive roster turnover thus far, the Bats should get together as early as possible.

Since the preseason will be here before one knows it, there are some questions for Gotham FC. Some stem from the roster changes while others are based on the upcoming season. Moreover, it is common to have questions for teams before the new campaign begins.

Therefore, here are three questions for Gotham FC.

3. Will Midge Purce re-sign with Gotham FC?

The first question is the easiest: Will Midge Purce return to Gotham FC? Or will she go elsewhere? Ideally, she will be back, for she is one of the best players in the NWSL. 2024 was supposed to be her year before the ACL injury, and she was missed on the pitch. Of course, Yazmeen Ryan was given the chance to shine, and she did. However, Ryan was traded to the Houston Dash, which shocked many supporters since many thought she would be the player to completely replace Purce if she were to leave.

Now, regardless of Gabi Portilho's signing, bringing back Purce makes sense. She is a leader on and off the pitch and has represented Gotham well. It would be better for the club and her to have the decision soon. If she wants to leave but questions where she wants to go, then Purce should at least let the front office know so the team can finalize future plans and inform the fans.

2. Will Crystal Dunn be back and play more for Gotham FC?

Then, the status of Crystal Dunn is somewhat unknown. She became unavailable towards the end of the year and did not play for Gotham FC. No reason was given. So, will Dunn be back, or will the Bats trade her or mutually terminate her contract?

The real question was whether she was gone because she had an issue with the club. Perhaps she was unhappy with Gotham or the lack of minutes she played. However, that will probably not be answered. Instead, the concern is whether she will be with the team in 2025. If she is, then will Juan Carlos Amorós increase Dunn's minutes? It was a little shocking she did not play as much since she can play on the wings, in the attacking midfield, and as a left-back. Hopefully, with the numerous outgoing players, the USWNT star will stay with the NJ/NY side.

In 2023 and 2024, Gotham FC appeared to have excellent chemistry on and off the pitch. Everyone got along, as it seems from afar, and worked well to develop the product that fans wanted to see.

At the same time, it was clear the Bats needed a few months to adjust to some of the new players in 2024. As such, with the roster turnover, will the team be able to create a similar chemistry in 2025? This is vital for a team to perform their best and for players to be on the same page during games. One would assume it might take some time again, but if Gotham FC wants to compete for first place, then they need the team to have good chemistry as soon as possible.
