Bruno Fernandes converted two penalties in either half. Jon Arambaru’s sending-off after the hour mark helped United tcruise to a comfortable 4-1 win against Imanol’s side.

Fernandes bagged his hat-trick with a fine finish before Diogo Dalot put the gloss on the performance with United’s fourth goal.

The captain was undoubtedly the man of the match, but Patrick Dorgu was also impressive.

He won the penalty to make it 2-1 for the Red Devils and also induced the foul from Arambaru, who was sent off for denying a clear scoring opportunity.

The £25 million signing had 65 touches in the game. He won an impressive 11 out of 13 duels contested and induced six fouls from the opposition.

Dorgu also registered two successful tackles alongside two clearances and four recoveries.

United will face Lyon in the last eight of the Europa League next month.

The Red Devils need to refocus for Sunday. They are scheduled to visit Leicester City in the Premier League.

United have already beaten the Foxes three times in all competitions this term and are favourites to continue the streak.
