Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the Champions League campaign following a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan on the road.

The game was evenly contested in the opening half and the Nerazzurri took the lead just before the break through a fortuitous penalty.

Mikel Merino was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box. Considering the close proximity, the Spaniard was somewhat unlucky.

In the second half, Arsenal were the dominant outfit throughout, but the Nerazzurri kept them at bay with a strong defensive showing.

The Serie A outfit finished with 52 clearances with 11 blocks and eight interceptions.

Denzel Dumfries and Yann Bisseck made two goal-saving challenges to deny an equaliser for the Gunners.

Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer also made a superb save on the stretch to deny Havertz a brilliant goal.

It was one of Arsenal’s best performances in a while, but they came out of the game with another loss.

Leandro Trossard was once again picked to start alongside Kai Havertz up front in a 4-4-2 formation.

The Belgian had a tough outing with zero shots on target and three duels won before his late substitution.

He was also guilty of losing possession on eight occasions including a sequence where he lost the ball thrice.

Trossard was the worst player on the pitch and he received a 5/10 rating from football.london.

In our view, manager Mikel Arteta must drop him to the bench for Sunday’s crucial Premier League clash at Chelsea.

Trossard has made vital goal contributions for the Gunners in the past, but he has been largely effective as a super sub.

He has lacked the same kind of impact from the starting XI. The 29-year-old does not deserve a starting berth as of now.

Gabriel Jesus seems a natural replacement for the 4-4-2 set-up, but captain Martin Odegaard could start at Stamford Bridge.

The Norwegian was handed just six minutes at San Siro after his injury return. He could feature from the off in the derby.
