Chelsea thrashed Shamrock Rovers 5-1 last night in their final league stage match of the Europa Conference League competition.
They will now advance to the next stage having won the league stages with a 100% winning record having no problems at all against any side they came up against.
And remember, this was also playing their B-Team that was full of fringe and academy players. So even though the opposition has been very poor, it’s still some achievement for these young players to be able to get through winning every single game and playing so well along the way.
Our man of the match!
I put out my match report on my own personal Chelsea website where I also report exclusive inside news on the club, transfer etc.
And these are my player ratings from last night:
Filip Jorgensen – 7.5
Didn’t have too much to do but saved the shots he did have well and also came and dominated the box to take one cross in the first half. All good with the ball at his feet, too.
Josh Acheampong – 8
So calm and composed on the ball and also looked assured when playing in the centre of the back three/four in the second half. Looks mature beyond his years.
Axel Disasi – 8
Tidy again and controlled the play from the back in the central areas. Passing was decent, and he was organising and speaking to those around him as well.
Renato Veiga – 7.5
I said last week he was too calm on the ball sometimes, well tonight he was much more basic and a bit quicker to move the ball, and it paid off!
Marc Cucurella – 8.5
I honestly can’t believe my eyes watching Cucurella play right now. He scored a perfect centre forward’s goal, and was a constant threat in attack and in between the lines. He also wore the captains armband for the first time when Disasi came on, so that was a nice moment for him too. On fire this guy!
Cesare Casadei – 7.5
Absolutely fine in the deeper role, taking the ball in under pressure, moving it well, finding the right pass which was mostly progressive. Tidy game.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7.5
I think this was probably the best he has played in a Chelsea shirt so far. Cut out the cheap giveaways and really used the ball well when he had it, providing a great advanced outlet and always making himself available. Battled well too and scored a lovely little goal.
Christopher Nkunku – 6.5
He was a little quiet I thought and not as involved as I’d have liked him to be. When he did get on the ball he didn’t do anything too threatening with it.
Tyrique George – 7
SO much better on the left than on the right, but always a menace on either side. In the first half he was so lively on the left and he was beating his man and firing dangerous crosses in. But on the right in the second half he wasn’t quite as effective.
Noni Madueke – 8.5
His crossing in the first half was immense. Every time he whipped one of those in-swingers in it looked like we would score, a real weapon that. Great game from Noni.
Marc Guiu – 9.5
This guy looks like a real goal poacher bagging a hat-trick tonight, his first ever in the senior game. I don’t know a striker right now who I see as harder to defend against based on pressing. He is absolutely rapid and reads the pass back so well. He is strong, direct, and has a good finish on him. His headed goal was actually my favourite because it was a real target man’s goal; the profile we lack… I don’t quite see him as a traditional 9, but he’s certainly got a lot of elements of it.
SPTC Man of the Match!
Harvey Vale – 7.5
Such a comfortable and natural football player wherever he plays. I like him off the left, and he was good there tonight, providing a lot of creativity in attack.
Joao Felix – 7
Came on and tried too hard really. He had some lovely touches and almost scored too, but he is trying so hard to score that he forgets the team play at times. Just desperate to get a regular spot.
Harrison Murray-Campbell – 7.5
We have another gem people. Another Chelsea academy player who comes in on his debut and just looks so confident and assured that he doesn’t look out of place even in the slightest. Very calm and tidy player.
Sam Rak-Sakyi – N/A
