Barcelona raised many eyebrows recently by renewing the contract of Lamine Yamal, the club’s rising star.

The club offered the 17-year-old a mega contract that would be ratified when the player turns 18 in July. Nevertheless, he would become one of the highest-paid players thanks to the new terms.

A detailed breakdown of Yamal’s contract

A recent report from MARCA has given comprehensive insights into Yamal’s contract and how much exactly the youngster will earn under the new terms.

The new deal ties Yamal to Barcelona until 2031. During this period, Yamal will earn a fixed salary of around €10 million per year, making him one of the club’s top earners.

On top of that, there’s a €25 million signing bonus, distributed evenly across the six years of the contract, along with various performance-based incentives.

The contract also features special clauses, including bonuses for individual and team success. If Yamal wins the Ballon d’Or, for instance, he would receive an additional reward.

If he meets all the outlined objectives, he could reportedly earn up to €20 million net per season.

This puts him on par with senior players like Robert Lewandowski, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Although Lewandowski’s base wage (reduced from €32M to €26M gross next year) is slightly higher, Yamal could surpass him thanks to bonuses and the signing package.

De Jong, too, could fall behind in overall earnings, despite being set to earn €22 million gross next season plus bonuses.

While the contract runs through 2031, both parties have agreed to review it in two years, depending on the progress Yamal makes.

In other words, there could be another renewal just around the corner, provided Yamal continues or maybe even elevates performances in the coming seasons.
