Speaking to DAZN and in the mixed zone following Lyon’s 3-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the Groupama Stadium, Lyon owner John Textor was present to explain his cowboy hat gesture aimed towards Nasser Al-Khelaifi as a direct response to the PSG owner’s remarks during a discussion about TV rights. “I wore the hat because I was feeling confident, but I don’t really see myself as a cowboy,” said Textor. “We had intense discussions with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi regarding TV rights, and I wasn’t even aware he had called me a cowboy. When I heard about it, I thought it would be funny to show up with the hat.”Despite the humor, the underlying tension between Textor and Al-Khelaïfi remains. The Lyon owner has been vocal about what he perceives as a conflict of interest regarding Al-Khelaïfi’s dual roles as PSG president and a key figure at beIN Sports. “It’s nothing personal,” Textor insisted. “This is simply about fairness. Everyone should play by the same rules. I’m not just fighting for OL but for the entire French league. We can’t have the same champion for twenty years in a row.”GFFN | George Boxall
