A landmark moment for Greg Taylor

It was a landmark moment for Greg Taylor who played his 200th game for the club in last night’s victory over Dundee United at Celtic Park…

Greg Taylor as we know isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea, and with rumours of a return for Kieran Tierney plus Greg’s contact situation the spotlight has pretty much been focused on the former Kilmarnock left-back.

Add to that Brendan Rodgers much publicised criticism of the Celtic supporters, bizarrely linking the Green Brigade singing about Kieran Tierney as a negative  regarding Greg, there was an extra bit of pressure on him last night.

Greg to his credit produced a great performance to mark his double century of appearances in the Hoops, and while his future remains very much in doubt, it’s shows his true professionalism that he can focus on the job in hand and produce the goods on the park.

Whether you like him as a player or not you can’t deny that he’s done a great job in his time at the club. 200 appearances, nine goals, and 10 honours are testament to that. Brendan was correct in describing him a a true Celt.

During his time at the club Greg Taylor has played under respected and experienced managers such as Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers, and each and every one of them has favoured Greg as their preferred choice at left back.

Not bad for a guy who is seen as some as an ‘average’ player.

Hopefully he can reach an agreement with the club and can target 300 appearances and beyond. There’s no reason why he can’t achieve that goal.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
