The Whites have confirmed a deal has been agreed with Eintracht Frankfurt for the Dane to make the permanent switch this summer, with the YEP reporting a fee in the region of £7.7m.

The 27-year-old has spent this season on loan with the Bundesliga outfit, cementing himself as a key figure in the side.

The full-back’s been a regular presence in Dino Toppmoller’s team both in the league, as well as the Europa League since arriving in the summer.

Goodman believes that Leeds have done well to earn a fee of that size for Kristensen in a deal he described as win-win.

Given the player was also unlikely to be a part of Daniel Farke’s first team plans, he believes this is excellent business for the club.

“I think if you’re a Championship club, and at the moment Leeds still are, and you can get £7.7 million for a player that hasn’t been a part of your plans and who’s not likely to be part of your plans then it’s a great deal,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.

“Obviously, his only real appearances for Leeds were in the Premier League, and then when they got relegated, like many, many Leeds players they had clauses in contracts that allowed them to go out on loan, and he did that.

“Went to Roma, played plenty enough for them and obviously this season at Eintracht Frankfurt he’s playing on a very, very regular basis.

“So, I think it’s a win-win for all parties.”

Kristensen signed for Leeds in the 2022 summer transfer window, but departed on loan for Roma when the club were relegated in 2023 before making this switch to Frankfurt last year after the team’s play-off final loss to Southampton.

Kristensen deal makes sense for all parties

Leeds are earning a solid fee for Kristensen given he’s someone that’s not in Farke’s plans for the first team squad.

The defender has done well in Germany, and it makes sense for everyone if he stays with Frankfurt from next season.

This fee should help Leeds have a bit of extra cash in the summer regardless of what division they’ll be competing in.

It also allows the club to move on and forget about having to deal with the remaining time on his contract, so getting this done early in their summer business preparation could prove very beneficial in the months ahead.
