Abdukodir Khusanov named Etihad Player of the Month | OneFootball

Abdukodir Khusanov has set a new record after being voted the Etihad Player of the Month for February.

Six weeks since joining the Club on a four-and-a-half year deal, the Uzbek has captured the hearts of City fans with his tenacious, quick and strong defending in Pep Guardiola’s side.

And it’s those attributes that saw him pick up the highest number of votes a player has ever received to fight off Erling Haaland and Josko Gvardiol for the award.

The 21-year-old, who just celebrated his birthday, scored his first goal in blue at the start of the month, netting our first to draw City level before going on to win our FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle 2-1.

He then played every minute of our Premier League games against Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to complete February.

Two wins and two clean sheets over the Magpies and Spurs either side of a Liverpool defeat – where Khusanov was still one of City’s brightest players – have all seen his game go from strength to strength as he finds his feet in English football.

And it seems Khusanov is just scratching the surface of what he can offer Guardiola’s team with plenty more to come.
