Tammy Abraham’s brace against his parent club Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals did not go unnoticed among Milan directors, as the Rossoneri are carefully monitoring the striker’s displays to assess whether to make his move from the Giallorossi permanent next summer.

The former Chelsea striker put his name on the scoresheet in all four competitions he played since moving to the San Siro on loan last summer, proving a reliable back-up option up front.

His status is not expected to change in the coming months, as the club made a heavy investment to sign Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord to provide coach Sergio Conceição with a new target-man, but they feel the Englishman can still be an ideal second-choice forward.

Milan to pursue permanent move for Abraham from Roma, but salary cut needed

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan may approach Roma to discuss a permanent deal for Abraham by the end of the season, although the player would need to significantly reduce his current wages of €6m per year, which the Diavolo consider excessive.

In addition, it is unlikely that the Rossoneri will accept to include Alexis Saelemaekers, currently on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, in the deal, as Conceição is said to rate the Belgian winger highly and would be eager to have him back next season.

Abraham has managed eight goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
