The South London club have given an update (see below) on how ticket sales are going.

They report ‘high demand’ and over a thousand AFC Wimbledon fans having bought tickets to see their team play Newcastle United.

Looking now on Monday morning at their online ticketing site, I reckon it looks like AFC Wimbledon have sold somewhere around 1,200-1,300 tickets of their total allocation of 3,000 tickets.

Only just over eight hours now as I write this, for the AFC Wimbledon fans to get tickets, as they have until 5pm on Monday.

A lot of Newcastle United fans were hopeful there could be some returns, if the away side couldn’t sell their full allocation.

Incredibly, the ballot for Newcastle United members was significantly oversubscribed (see below) for this cup match.

Then the sale via an online queue, which NUFC now have as well as the ballot each home match, saw those very final thousands of tickets gone in around 15 minutes, with countless Newcastle United members missing out.

Anybody who missed out on a ticket, it could well be worth checking the Newcastle United site occasionally today, just in case some of these so far unsold AFC Wimbledon tickets are made available to NUFC fans.

As well as that ticket sales update, AFC Wimbledon have also announced (see below) that they have asked their fans to pause the fundraiser for the time being, as they are currently in discussions with their insurers to see what their position is, as well as just how much work still needs to be done at their stadium.

Here at The Mag we contributed a nominal amount on behalf of everybody who visits the site and invited individual Newcastle fans to do the same, if they were able to and of course, if they wanted to!

Both AFC Wimbledon and the main man behind the fundraiser, have said how incredible the support has been from both Newcastle United fans our club, who donated £15,000. Plus of course fans of many other clubs also donating.

That fundraiser currently paused on an impressive £122,920, thanks to 2,975 donations.

AFC Wimbledon official announcement on fundraiser – 27 September 2024:

‘Everyone here at AFC Wimbledon would like to thank each and every person who has donated or have offered support to us in other ways following our stadium and pitch damage, as well as supporter Graham Stacey for his efforts in initiating and leading the fundraising campaign to help the Club.

We will be eternally grateful.

Having spent the week investigating the issue with a number of experts, alongside our insurers, we have asked Graham to pause his fundraising drive. While investigations and a plan to address the issues remain a work in progress, and there remain several unknowns, we are hopeful that the funds raised by Graham’s campaign will at least cover our significant insurance excess and contribute to inevitable ongoing costs.

In the event the situation becomes more serious and costly during these investigations, we will notify supporters.

Thank you once again for your incredible support. If you are new to the Club, we would encourage you to become a Member, and join us for a matchday here at the Cherry Red Records Stadium once we’re back in action. You will be made most welcome.
