It’s the final two quarter-finals in the African Cup of Nations with Egypt facing Morocco and Senegal taking on Equatorial Guinea.
Who would make the final four?
Scorers: Diedhiou 28′, Kouyaté 68′, Sarr 79′; Buyla 59′
Senegal booked their place in the AFCON semi-finals with a 3-1 win over Equatorial Guinea.
It was a pretty slow start to the game with neither side having a shot on target in the opening 20 minutes.
But it was Senegal who opened the scoring as Famara Diedhiou finished well from close range after good work from Sadio Mané.
Into the second half and Equatorial Guinea had the perfect opportunity to equalise after Kalidou Koulibaly was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area.
But after a VAR check the referee somehow changed his mind, much to the consternation of the Equatorial Guinea players.
That seemed to spur them on though and soon after got an equaliser through Jannick Buyla’s toe poke.
They weren’t level for long however as Senegal got their second as Cheikhou Kouyaté pounced on a poor defensive header and slotted home.
Aliou Cissé’s side then got a third late on as Ismaila Sarr latched on to the end of a cross and tapped in.
Scorers: Salah 57′, Trezeguet 99′; Boufal (PEN) 6′
It was Morocco who flew out of the blocks and scored inside the opening six minutes as Sofiane Boufal struck from the penalty spot.
Egypt were struggling to get in the game and saw their discipline wane on several occasions with petulant fouls halting the flow of the first half.
Into the second half and the Pharoahs eventually got their equaliser as Mohamed Salah was left unmarked at the back post to tap in.
Tensions boiled over going into the last quarter of the game as both teams engaged in some handbags after Achraf Hakimi was struck in the face.
Morocco thought they had grabbed a late winner as Romain SaĂŻss headed towards goal but Mohamed Abou Gabal produced a superb close-range save that took the match into extra time.
Egypt showed their class in added time as Salah jinked his way past two defenders and squared a ball for Trezeguet, who tapped into an unguarded net.
