Barcelona have once again been linked with Napoli’s Georgian winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as reports from SPORT suggest that the Serie A side is open to selling their prized asset.

Napoli and Kvaratskhelia’s camp have struggled to find common ground over a new contract, which has left his future uncertain.

His current deal runs until 2027, but the lack of progress in negotiations has reportedly prompted Napoli to consider putting him on the market if no agreement is reached.

Tense situation between Napoli and Kvaratskhelia

The situation between the club and the player’s representatives has been tense. Kvaratskhelia currently earns a modest €1.2 million per season, one of the lowest salaries in the squad.

His entourage has demanded a significant pay rise, arguing for even retroactive adjustments to compensate for what they perceive as lost income.

Napoli, however, are only willing to offer €5 million annually and have attached a steep release clause of €130 million to their proposal—something the player’s camp finds unacceptable.

With talks at an impasse, the negotiations have been frozen, and a final attempt to resolve the matter is expected before the season ends.

Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia’s agents have reportedly reached out to Barcelona, a club that had previously shown interest in the winger.

Discussions had stalled last year, but this new development aims to gauge the Blaugrana’s willingness to pursue the deal. However, Barcelona have yet to make any official move.

The Catalan side remains cautious about entering negotiations with Napoli, as their president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, is known for his tough and unpredictable approach to transfers.

Will not go all-out

Barça are unwilling to pay excessive fees, especially with Napoli likely to demand €80 million or more for the winger.

While Kvaratskhelia is admired by Barcelona for his potential fit into their project, they have no intention of engaging in a bidding war or overpaying for his services.

For now, Barcelona are waiting to see how the situation unfolds. If Kvaratskhelia genuinely desires a move, the club expects him to push for the transfer and demonstrate his commitment to making the deal happen.

Other suitors, including PSG, remain in the race, but Barcelona’s approach will depend on the player’s willingness to take the initiative.
