Gigio Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, says PSG have opened preliminary contract talks with his client, ‘the best goalkeeper in the world.’

Ligue 1 giants PSG have opened contract talks with Italy international Donnarumma, the goalkeeper’s agent Enzo Raiola told Tuttosport on Tuesday.

“He has two years left [in his contract], so we are in no hurry, but there have been preliminary contacts already,” the player’s agent said in an interview published on page 20.

“[PSG director] Campos has said it publicly: He wants to keep Gigio, and we want to stay. I am proud that a player like him plays for one of the best clubs in the world. He is a leader of our national team, and he could be the same at PSG. I’d be glad.”

Donnarumma was one of Italy’s best players at the Euros alongside Riccardo Calafiori, who then joined Arsenal from Bologna. Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer from Milan in the summer of 2021.

“He has received criticism in the past, but he has accepted it. I found it excessive anyway,” said Raiola.

“I know his worth well. He is the best keeper in the world, and there aren’t many talents like him in Italy.”

Is it possible to see Donnarumma return to Serie A one day?

“Agents often say ‘Never say never.’ I’ll say the same thing, but it’s practically impossible at the moment,” concluded Raiola.

Donnarumma, 25, has made 118 appearances with PSG and won six trophies, including three French titles. The Italian international massively contributed to Italy’s win at EURO 2020 and was named the Best Player of the Tournament.

The former Milan star has kept three clean sheets in four Ligue 1 games this season, conceding just one goal.
