Ajax eyeing up Southampton winger to replace Steven Bergwijn | OneFootball

Ajax are in talks to bring Kamaldeen Sulemana to Amsterdam. The Southampton winger is seen as a replacement for the departing Steven Bergwijn. Former Spurs man Bergwijn is set to leave the Eredivisie giants and move to Saudi Arabia. According to Mike Verweij, the deal will be a loan for Sulemana. Ajax had been interested in the winger back in 2021, but the Ghanaian moved to Stade Rennes instead.

22-year-old Sulemana cost Southampton around €25m back in January of 2023. Stades Rennes made a decent profit, having bought the winger from Danish side Nordsjaelland for around €17m back in the summer of 2021. The winger is under contract with the Saints until 2027.

During his time in France Sulemana mad 47 appearances, scoring six goals and grabbing four assists. For Southampton he played 44 games, scoring twice and grabbing four assists. He has not made an appearance for the side in the Premier League this season.
