“All options are open” - Burnley player drops hint over potential summer transfer exit

Hannes Delcroix spent the second half of last season on loan with Swansea City
Burnley FC outcase Hannes Delcroix has claimed he’s unsure of his Turf Moor future following the completion of his loan spell with Swansea City.
The defender joined the Clarets in the summer of 2023 under the management of Vincent Kompany, arriving from Anderlecht, where he had played 65 times.
But he was unable to break into Kompany's starting line-up upon his arrival, and it was the same story this past season under Scott Parker.
This led to a loan deal last January to Swansea, having failed to feature for Burnley at all up to that point in the campaign, before appearing 12 times in the Championship for the Welsh outfit.
With the 2024-25 season now over, Delcroix will return to Burnley, where a decision will need to be made on his future, as he has just one year remaining on his contract.
The 26-year-old admitted that he’s unsure whether a move away from the Lancashire outfit is on the cards, or if he still has a role to play in Parker’s squad.
“I don’t know,” Delcroix told Belgian publication Gazet van Antwerpen.
“All options are open.”
Delcroix also spoke of his debut season with Burnley, where he featured 12 times in England's top flight, but it has been a rough road for him since then.
“I learned a lot from it, and at times I was able to enjoy it," the 26-year-old added.
The level of training was very high, the facilities are great. And I’m happy that I was able to show myself against big teams, like in Liverpool or in Tottenham in the cup, which I thought was my highlight.
“But just when I felt like I had left, I was injured for three weeks. After that, at Liverpool, I was allowed to play again immediately, but as a left back, not my natural position.
"In the end I had hoped for more playing time. I need consecutive games to reach my best level, and I never really had that.”
Delcroix will now be returning to a Burnley side celebrating a top two finish in the Championship, granting them a return to the top flight at the first attempt.
It remains to be seen whether Parker will have any role for the defender next season, but on the basis of what's happened in 2024-25, you'd imagine not.
It’s difficult to imagine Delcroix breaking into Parker’s plans for life in the Premier League.
Injuries have hampered his time at Turf Moor, but he’s also not shown that he could compete for the club at that level even if he stayed fit.
The 26-year-old’s loan spell at Swansea was solid, but it’s unlikely to have changed the manager’s opinion on where he stands in the squad.
Whether it’s a permanent move back to the Swans, or even possibly a switch back to Belgian football, a departure from Turf Moor appears the likeliest outcome this summer.
