Sem Steijn is a man in form to start this Eredivisie season. The FC Twente man grabbed another brace, following up from his two goals against Heerenveen last weekend, to make it five goals in three games. Overall, the 22-year-old midfielder has six goals and one assist in six games this season. On the receiving end of this Steijn performance were Almere City. Steijn and co put five past the struggling home side to ensure that Almere are still searching for their first win of the season.
Sam Lammers, Ricky van Wolfswinkel and defender Anass Salah-Eddine all chipped in for Twente’s third win of the season. The side have now scored 12 goals in six games, the third most behind free scoring PSV and AZ Alkmaar. It is the perfect way for Twente to warm up for their clash in the Europa League with Manchester United next weekend.
For Almere, they are at least doing better than RKC Waalwijk, who have lost all six of their games this season. The side from just outside of Amsterdam have picked up two draws in their previous two games. However, they have been on the end of the some heavy defeats as well. This 5-0 loss goes alongside a 7-1 defeat to PSV and a 3-0 loss to Fortuna Sittard. While they are leaking goals at the back, they are also struggling to score. They have only managed two goals this season. Fans will hope that French forward Thomas Robinet can rediscover his scoring touch. Last season the striker scored 12 goals in 36 games for the side.
Next up for Almere is a trip to struggling PEC Zwolle, who have won just once this season and are just above Almere with four points.
