While the focus seems to be very much on recruitment to América this close season, it seems Pedro Aquino could be on his way out of the club.
TUDN reports that the Azulcrema midfielder has attracted interest from a couple of Premier League clubs in England, and that there have been talks with at least one of those outfits.
It may be somewhat surprising to see Las Águilas entertain the possibility of Aquino’s departure, as he was a nailed-on starter in the Apertura up until he got injured against Tigres on 24 October.
However the 26-year-old’s decision to play for Peru before he had returned to action for his club did not go down well with those at América.
The muscle tear he suffered against Venezuela ruled him out of the quarter-final against Tigres, which Santiago Solari’s men lost 3-1 on aggregate.
Despite that incident, Aquino has proved himself an important cog in the Coapa’s engine.
Fans will hope that América have a suitable replacement lined up should they decide to let the León man move on.
