América are reportedly looking to offload defender Jorge Meré to fellow Liga MX side Mazatlán.
The Azulcrema are overstocked in terms of centre-backs and getting the 25-year-old Spaniard off the books would free up space for another ‘foreigner’ in Fernando Ortiz’s squad.
According to TUDN, Mazatlán are interested in acquiring the former Sporting Gijón man.
The Sinaloa outfit have been hit by injuries in that area, so a move for Meré would appear to be mutually beneficial for both clubs.
No doubt the player may also welcome the opportunity to leave Las Águilas, where he has failed to even make the bench in recent weeks.
He has only been in Mexico since January when he agreed a transfer from German side Köln.
Meré will almost certainly not be involved when América return to Apertura action with a game at León on Sunday.
