América's Néstor Araujo expects 'best from Pumas' in Clásico Capitalino | OneFootball

América defender Néstor Araujo is “very happy” at the prospect of playing his first derby in Liga MX in four years.

The 30-year-old is enjoying his debut season with América after signing from Spanish side Celta Vigo this summer.

Araujo started his career at Cruz Azul before making a name for himself at Santos Laguna.

Now back in his homeland, the right-back is set for his first experience of a Clásico Capitalino with the Azulcrema facing Pumas on Saturday.

“It is the first time that I have been in a Clásico with América,” Araujo told a pre-match press conference.

“We know that Pumas is a complete team and we know how the Clásicos are played; We wait for the best Pumas and to be focused, involved in order to win.”

The Mexico international also admitted that he has found it difficult to adjust physically to life back in Mexico City, but still harbours hopes of making the national team squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

“It hasn’t been easy, especially because of the altitude, trying to fit in and little by little I’m feeling better,” he said.

“Do things well here so that later you can be eligible for the Tata [Martino]. Step by step so that the results are good.”

Araujo has won 57 caps with El Tri since making his debut in 2011.
