After overseeing his first training session at Carrington on Monday, Ruben Amorim will already be making plans for how he expects his squad to shape up for the remainder of the season.

Until the back end of the week, the Manchester United boss will be navigating a depleted squad due to the players still on/returning from international duty. However, he did have key starters such as Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford at his disposal, as well as the surprise inclusion of Luke Shaw, who’s just returned from his lengthy injury layoff.

Observant Reds were able to decipher the line-up Amorim had deployed in a clip released by United, and while it’s almost certain to change when all Reds are back at base, it did include current outcast Antony operating a right-wing back position.

Whether or not he’ll play a significant role under the new head coach remains to be seen, but if the Daily Star’s new report is anything to go by, the Brazilian may be playing to attract potential suitors ahead of the January window.

The outlet claims that United are prepared to offload Antony ‘to the highest bidder’ in the winter window, although, given his substandard showings in the last two-and-a-half seasons, it’s unlikely there’ll be many clubs lining up to take him on board.

As such, a loan exit will also be considered to give him a chance to either reignite the most prolific version of himself – more recently witnessed during his Ajax tenure – before having a second shot at Old Trafford or drive up his transfer value to complete a permanent move away in the summer.

Antony, 24, has endured a slow start to the 2024/2025 campaign. He has made only five appearances in all competitions and was not utilised at all during Ruud van Nistelrooy’s four-game interim spell. In the Premier League, he’s featured for a total of 27 minutes in the opening 11 matches.
