Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim revealed the latest team news ahead of Thursday’s decisive clash against Olympique Lyonnais.

The two sides settled for a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals which was held on French soil. Therefore, the battle at Old Trafford will determine which club will go through to the semi-finals.

Andre Onana was the main culprit in the two away goals conceded, so the manager decided to drop him in the weekend contest against Newcastle United.

Nevertheless, Altay Bayindir didn’t cover himself in glory when given this rare opportunity, so Amorim has now confirmed the Cameroonian will return in goal.

“I’m trying to be clear on things, try to make the evaluation, be really simple and not overthink it,” said the 40-year-old in his pre-match press conference via Sky Sports.

“When I imagine the game, when I see Onana, he had one weekend of rest, now he’s ready to return to the competition, and I chose Andre to start this game.”

Amorim then turned his attention to the injury front, first confirming that Joshua Zirzkee will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knock against Newcastle.

“He is out for the season. He will not play again this season, let’s prepare him for the next one. It is tough, he was improving in every apsect of the game. It is tough for any player but he has to be ready to recover.”

Moreover, the head coach revealed that Ayden Heaven has suffered a small relapse in his recovery process, so he’ll skip Thursday’s contest.

“Ayden will be out for this game. He has a small issue in the same spot. Contact with a teammate.”

On the other hand, Amorim delivered positive updates on Matthijs de Ligt and Amad Diallo, whom he expects to recover before the end of the campaign, in addition to Jonny Evans who is already back in training.

“De Ligt will return this season. Evans returned to training, but he’s not available for this game. Amad is not ready for this month, but we hope to have Amad for this season.”
