Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will need to recoup funds from player sales to afford new signings this winter, according to The Times.
The Red Devils have had a dismal Premier League campaign, and their fortunes have not changed despite the appointment of Amorim as their head coach.
United have been in relegation form over the past few weeks. They have picked up just seven points in their eight games under the Portuguese tactician.
It is now reported that Amorim may not have funds to spend in the upcoming transfer window unless the club can recoup money from player departures.
Marcus Rashford has been earmarked as the ‘most saleable asset’, and the Red Devils are open to temporary and permanent offers for their graduate.
United are braced for interest from Premier League clubs in Rashford. Amorim has ‘decided that now would be a good time to cash in on the forward’.
He has the complete backing from the hierarchy, but Rashford’s £325,000 per week wages could be a stumbling block towards a potential winter exit.
The England international was first dropped for the Manchester derby earlier this month. Rashford went on to acknowledge that he would prefer a new challenge.
Amorim has since left him out for another three games. The attacker was back in the matchday squad against Newcastle United, but he was an unused substitute.
It seems crystal clear that the manager does not want to work with the 27-year-old. A mutual decision to part ways could be made during the winter transfer window.
It is unlikely that any European club will pay his hefty weekly wages. If United were to agree a permanent transfer, they may need to hand a pay-off to Rashford.
A loan deal could also be finalised with United compensating part of his salary.
Rashford, once described as ‘unstoppable‘ by former Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag, could leave the club either way. We don’t see him reviving his United career.
